Lovecraft’s fiction, distinguished by awe-inspiring landscapes, spectacular monsters and earth-shattering events, has long enjoyed a reputation for conveying an atmosphere of dread. In tale after tale, whether set in his native New England or far-flung wilderness spaces, evocative prose aims to facilitate textual encounters with world beyond the realm known human experience. legacy, propelled disturbing images monstrosity powerful notions cosmicism, found new forms artistic expression well into twenty-first century. Playing out across wide variety media formats, franchises like Hellboy Locke & Key works such as Lovecraft Country, name but few, pay homage to, take inspiration from, established visual thematic aspects works. this essay, it is my intention examine adaptations one most celebrated short stories “The Colour Out Space” (1927), focusing on film comics. Acknowledging cosmicism integral aspect examining how might be expressed I will consider translates other formats. Looking first at then adaptation, turn attention Richard Stanley’s Color Space (2019), included Self Made Hero’s The Anthology (2011), argue that Lovecraftian nurtured each text according its medium-specific qualities.
